What is the “cost” of a franchise?

The "cost of a franchise" will vary regionally due to marketing costs and lead time for permitting in your area. It will also depend on the size you want your office to be and the income you want to achieve.

There is some capital needed in the first year to operate the office, pay any employees, maintain cash flow, marketing costs, etc.  This is money spent by you to operate your own office.  It is up to you to decide how large or small your office will be. We have offices in our network that fit all models.

Do I need a construction background to run a successful UBuildIt business?

People coming from a wide variety of backgrounds and experience levels can be successful in this business. Excellent interpersonal and management skills coupled with a strong desire to provide outstanding client service are key ingredients. Successful franchise networks also depend on Franchise Partners to value and follow a proven system, and to commit to brand consistency and integrity.

These "hats" must be worn by the ownership team or their staff. All are full-time efforts. Construction Consulting is the backbone of this business, so you will need to feel confident in offering the services yourself (and be approved by UBuildIt to do so), or position your business to engage an experienced residential construction professional to work directly with your clients during their construction phases. The other disciplines that are critical to success include the ability to manage, market and grow the business, to follow the marketing guidelines, and to convince people to become your UBuildIt clients.

If I am a builder, can I add UBuildIt to my present business?

Yes, you can. We require that Franchise Partners run their UBuildIt offices as a sole, independent business with a stand-alone office location. This gives you a unique marketing message that sets you apart from other home builders in your area. It also reduces the liabilities and the paperwork inherent in construction. Perhaps the biggest benefit is the ability to work as a client advisor, rather than manage the adversarial challenges that often accompany the owner-contractor relationship. You may own other businesses, but no co-branding is allowed.

How much money can I make?

A UBuildIt franchise owner's financial returns will come from two separate channels. Annual cash flow (which may take the form of some combination of salary, bonuses and /or dividends). Building long term equity into the business (often referred to as goodwill) which the owner can choose to sell to a third party sometime in the future.  As the UBuildIt system grows nationwide through outstanding operators who know their local communities and execute the UBuildIt programs consistently, the opportunity and business equity which can be sold and transferred to a third party rises substantially.

Ultimately, UBuildIt owner-operator's  financial returns will be a reflection of their individual marketplace, the discipline with which they implement a proven system, the investment they make in marketing and advertising and the hard work and sheer effort they exert in their marketplace.

  • Submit your application and receive our Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD)
  • Review our Office Placement Plan for your area.
  • Receive a code word which allows you to contact our current franchise partners. They'll share real information about their own office and their experience as a partner.
  • Prepare your financial projections with your advisors.
  • Sign a franchise agreement and submit the franchise fee.
  • Attend our UBuildIt University and open your doors for business.
